Staffordshire Geology

As well as plants and animals, SER is also responsible for the Geological Records Centre. Staffordshire contains almost 70 RIGS or Regionally Important Geological/geomorphological Sites, together with 22 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and 2 National Nature Reserves with important geological features.

Geological Expertise in the county is offered by GeoConservation Staffordshire (previously Staffordshire RIGS Group) which can be contacted through Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, and further information can be found in the Staffordshire Geodiversity Action Plan.
